    HSE Manager

    • We are looking for a reliable HSE Manager to ensure that everyone within the MGA family is safe and complies with ALL HSE policies and guidelines. You will build strong HSE systems and structures around the business.

    The role holder must have –

    • undisputed attention to detail and the ability to build strong HSE systems and structures around the business.
    • ability to identify and speedily resolve safety issues.
    • leadership muscle to fearlessly drive change and secure life while effectively communicating necessary guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is a plus for this role.

    Tasks
    YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO MGA
    Compliance

    • Establishment of HSE management system aligned to the company goals.
    • Develop and execute HSE plans in compliance with the legal requirements.
    • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of HSE.
    • Continually evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
    • Monitor compliance through random inspections and employee engagement forums.
    • Investigate accidents or incidents to establish causes and take prevention measures.
    • Submit daily reports on HSE awareness issues, accidents, and incidents.
    • Inspect equipment and facilities for a safe work environment.
    • Ensure maximum employee & guest protection through timely provision of necessary PPEs.
    • Coordinate end to end registration and renewal of licenses and /permits across the business.
    • Remain abreast with emerging HSE laws while updating relevant stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain key partnerships with organizations and professional bodies that formulate laws around the industry.

    Key HSE Performance Indicators

    • FMEA ( Failure mode and Effect Analysis) & AHP (Analytical Hierarchy process) methodologies.
    • Number of reported accidents & incidents.
    • Lost time injury frequency rate ( LTIFR) - Number of lost time injuries that happen per hour worked.
    • Equipment breakdown ( Note that accidents occur on malfunctioning equipments).
    • Employee perception of management's commitment to HSE- This is achieved through surveys. Employees tend to follow procedures and instructions if they see a connection in what role they play and the organization's big picture.
    • Corrective actions - Speed & quality of resolve.
    • Average employee overtime hours - Keeping this number low translates to an organization's ability to manage workload and ultimately reducing the chances of fatigue in the workplace.
    • Employee satisfaction with the environment score - How satisfied are the employees with their physical surroundings ( desks, office, noise levels, building, toilets etc).
    • Fitness assessments - Number of free health checks offered.
    • HSE prevention costs - Expenditure aimed at minimizing HSE hazards that encompasses trainings, inspections and audits aimed at offering conducive and safe working conditions.
    • Average resolution time ( ART) - Time taken to resolve issues from incident reporting time.

    Training

    • Develop HSE training materials as per required industry standards.
    • Conduct accident prevention as well as HSE training.
    • Evaluate training impact and assessment programs to manage.
    • Develop and action HSE induction programs for all staff or guests within the MGA factory or offices.
    • Train on PPE use and maintenance.
    • Engage our community of partners in HSE matters ( Customers and as part of CSR our neighboring offices).

    Any other role aligned to the HSE function and is an industry requirement.
    Requirements

    • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant fields
    • Valid qualification/certifications in Occupational HSE.
    • Proven track record of turning around and sustaining a HSE culture in a manufacturing environment
    • Deep understanding of the industry legal requirements
    • Ability to prepare and present and execute HSE reports to key stakeholders
    • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
    • Attention to detail
    • Speedy response to emergencies
    • Exceptional communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
