    Human Capital Executive - Employee Relations

    We are seeking an experienced and people-oriented Human Capital Executive - Employee Relations, in Kenya, to manage and execute employee relations initiatives that foster a positive, compliant and engaging work environment. This role will oversee employee contracts, probation and confirmations, disciplinary and grievance management, welfare and engagement activities, as well as exit processes, while embedding Harleys' values and culture into daily practices.

    The position will also provide operational HR advisory and support to employees and line managers, ensuring compliance with Kenyan labour laws, fair treatment of staff, and continuous improvement of employee relations processes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Employee Engagement, Culture & Values: Coordinate employee engagement surveys and follow-up action plans, promote Harleys' values in workplace practices, partner with managers to foster inclusivity, and support the Welfare Committee in delivering employee welfare initiatives.
    • Employee Welfare & Wellbeing: Ensure the smooth delivery of welfare programmes, respond to staff queries on medical and pension matters, coordinate with Compensation & Benefits team members on claims and renewals, and collaborate with Health & Safety teams on compliance.
    • Employee Relations & Discipline: Guide Managers on disciplinary and grievance handling, facilitate hearings and case resolutions, support ongoing legal cases with documentation, and act as the first point of contact for employee relations concerns.
    • Probation & Contract Management: Manage probationary reviews, confirmations, contract renewals and non-renewals, while ensuring accurate contract records and timely updates to Payroll.
    • Operations & Advisory Support: Provide HR/ER advisory to staff and Managers on policies, labour laws and best practices, address internal queries, and recommend process improvements.
    • HRIS & Employee Self-Service (ESS) Support: Promote consistent usage of the ESS module, provide staff training and guidance, troubleshoot issues and escalate system challenges to HC Adm in or vendors.
    • Policy Review & Compliance: Support the review and updating of HC policies, ensure compliance with Kenyan labour laws, communicate policy changes, and guide staff on application and interpretation.
    • HC Strategic Projects & Change Management: Participate in ER-related projects, audits, culture-building programmes and change initiatives including "Great Place to Work" and Service Excellence programmes.
    • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare timely ER dashboards and reports on cases, grievances, engagement, welfare and exits, providing insights and recommendations to improve processes, while maintaining confidentiality.

     QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field.
    • CHRP certification and active IHRM membership are required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR with a strong focus on employee relations, engagement and disciplinary management.
    • Solid knowledge of Kenyan labour laws, regulations and best HR practices.
    • Proven experience in managing employee engagement surveys and welfare activities.
    • Strong interpersonal, advisory and conflict resolution skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
    • Proficiency in HRIS systems, including employee self-service modules.
    • High level of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Strong reporting and analytical skills to drive data-driven decision-making.
