Human Resources Specialist at Acacia Innovations

Job Description

Since becoming operational in 2018, Acacia EPZ has considerably grown, with higher budgets and an increasing number of projects. As of 2021, AEPZL employs 37 people both on fulltime and part time basis. Through this consultancy, AEPZL seeks to develop a strategic approach to the management of its human resources and transition towards a consolidated mid-sized organization.

Scope of Assignment 

1. The consultant will achieve the assigned tasks by working together with the Finance and Administration team. The consultant will lead the implementation and ensure that the final objectives are achieved. 
2. Improve, update and strengthen its recruitment and onboarding process
3. Introduce system which enables a regular review of staff performance and fosters a culture of mutual accountability and professional development 
4. Retain talent by ensuring that staff members are supported to identify and follow up on individual professional development objectives.
5. Gauge where additional investment in human resources would be required in the mid to long term by assisting AEPZL management in planning Human resources needs and anticipating new issues. 

Responsibilities and Deliverables 

To meet the above-mentioned objectives, the consultant is expected to:

1. Create a strategic HR function that supports gender equality
2. Support high performance and diversity at all management levels
3. Improve employee retention and understand employee attrition
4. Create a fair compensation policy. Define clear job levels, salary bands, qualifications/ experience guidelines, and regular performance appraisal process.
5. Create employee training and development plan including gender training and sensitization to unconscious bias.

Provide AEPZL management with strategic HR management recommendations

1. Provide recommendations and written guidance for the strengthening of AEPZL recruitment and onboarding process. This guidance should enable AEPZL to attract the best possible fits for all new positions and ensure that new hires are adequately oriented to all organizational policies and processes relevant for their position.
2. Provide AEPZL management with relevant talent retention and human resources planning advice (e.g.in relation to any further training required for mid/top-management staff) 

Duration and Timeframe

1. The assignment is expected to commence in October 2021. The assignment is expected to require several face-to-face visits in AEPZL and remote support. 

Qualifications

1. Have at least 10 years’ experience in human resources management and organizational development. 
2. Demonstrate that they have successfully undertaken similar advisory mandates. • Have experience with capacity development and/or mentoring mandates
3. Have a high level of written and oral communication skills in English
4. Have excellent analytical and facilitation skills
5. Demonstrate familiarity and understanding with the operational context in which AEPZL operates.
6. Be flexible and ready to work in a fast-paced environment.
