    Internal Audit Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • To assist the Internal Audit Manager in the development and execution of internal audit strategy for the organization
    • To assist the Internal Audit Manager in preparation of the annual audit plan and audit budget
    • Execute audits and assure the effectiveness of the Risk Management, Control and governance processes
    • Deliver audits in line with the set audit quality standards
    • Understands the risk profile of the business, gains and applies extensive industry knowledge in the business
    • Engages with business process owners to agree on audit deliverables and timeframes and issues findings about work done
    • Provides an independent opinion on risk & and control environment for the various business processes
    • Follow up on the progress of the implementation of management actions
    • Review risk issues and changes/developments across relevant business areas and external environments that may impact the audit strategy and use this knowledge to advise on strategy and direction into the future
    • Create and nurture relationships with management and other assurance providers; and
    • Provide clients with an understanding of internal audit expectations

    Knowledge and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a Business related field from a recognized institution
    • Professional qualification (CPA(K), ACCA, etc.)
    • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in the internal audit function; and
    • Experience in the general insurance industry is an added advantage.
