Interpreter (Tamil) at Palladium International

Duties/Responsibilities

• To facilitate communication for a Tamil-speaking individual in Nairobi, including but not limited to the following settings:
• Attending medical appointments
• Arranging medical appointments
• Communication between the individual and staff providing practical support
• Communication between the individual and Palladium’s client
• Facilitate the individual’s the right to information through interpreting important and necessary information, including verbal updates from Palladium’s client and occasionally translating written documents
• Remain impartial and objective and offer the most direct interpretation possible; do not add or subtract to the message or offer advice.
• Report any alarming or concerning issues that arise during interpretation sessions to the Palladium Team Lead. This relates to any information that could compromise the safety or wellbeing of the individual concerned or of other people.
• Provide the Palladium Team Lead with regular updates, as appropriate.
• Demonstrate trust, cultural respect, sensitivity and impartiality.
• Record daily timesheets showing hours worked and the nature of services provided, reporting back to Palladium’s Project Manager on a weekly basis
• Applicants must have professional qualifications in providing interpretation services. They should state what these are at the time of application.
• Applicants must have the right to work in Kenya
• The Consultant will not directly or indirectly reveal or cause to be revealed the nature or content of any project or project related information, except to authorized personnel of the Company, or as permitted in writing by the Company.
