    Laboratory Technologist III

    V/NO. 176/2020
    Basic Salary Scale: Ksh.24,580 – 32,760 p.m. (CSG 12)
    House Allowance: Ksh.16,500 p.m.
    Commuter Allowance: Ksh.5,000 p.m.
    Risk Allowance: Ksh.3,000 p.m.
    Leave Entitlement: 30 days per financial year
    Medical Benefits: As existing in the Civil Service
    Terms of service: Three (3) years renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Applied Sciences (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology), Laboratory Science and Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology or any other comparable and relevant qualifications from a recognized institution.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties and responsibilities at this level include: -

    • receiving, recording, packaging, dispatching, analyzing and preserving test samples;
    • performing vaccine, feed animal products and by products quality assurance tests;
    • standardizing laboratory procedures and reagents;
    • writing laboratory reports;
    • maintaining biological cultures;
    • preparing media;
    • caring for laboratory animals; and
    • undertaking disease surveillance activities.
