    Laboratory Technologist - Kisumu

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accurate and timely performing of study specific assays
    • Perform laboratory tests, including HIV testing, diagnostic assays, and study-specific assays as per protocol.
    • Collect nasal swab specimens from participants.
    • Prepare, process, and store participant specimens, ensuring accuracy, custody, and archival as required.
    • Run and log specimen controls in line with SOP requirements.
    • Ensure proper laboratory waste segregation and management.
    • Maintain and update laboratory inventory, including consumables and reagents.
    • Develop, review, and implement laboratory SOPs, specimen flow charts, and related documents in compliance with the study protocol.
    • Ensure compliance with all SOPs, GCLP standards, and laboratory safety and infection control protocols, Receive, download, transcribe, and report external laboratory results according to the lab results communication SOP.
    • Participate in and pass all required proficiency testing and external quality assessments (EQAs).
    • Support supervised sample shipment procedures and ensure IATA certification compliance.
    • Update and maintain the laboratory specimen database, ensuring quality assurance of data, by providing accurate, timely laboratory results and ensuring data integrity.
    • Participate in quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) activities to uphold laboratory standards and Serve as the QA/QC point person at the laboratory level

    Vacancy Requirements:

    • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized training institution    Mandatory
    • Registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) with current practicing license    Mandatory
    • Proficiency in infant phlebotomy    Mandatory
    • Experience in clinical trials    Mandatory
    • Trained on Good clinical laboratory practice –GCL    Mandatory
