Legal Officer II at Mombasa County Public Service Board

Duties & Responsibilities

• Drawing and vetting of contracts, agreements and other legal documents;
• Undertaking legal research;
• Developing, implementing and reviewing legal policies and procedures to ensure that they are in accord with the existing legislation;
• Coordinating the corporation’s complaint management system;
• Monitoring compliance with legal and statutory requirements of the organisation;
• Assist in designing, defining and implementing the legal strategy;
• Assist the Corporation Secretary in issuing legal opinions to the CEO and the Board at their request;
• Ensuring compliance to the law and implementing good corporate governance;
• Assist in co-ordinating litigation management, appointment of external lawyers and ensure representation of the Corporation in courts or other judicial authorities;
• Supporting management in the application and implementation of new policies and procedures;
• Carry out any other duties relating to laws of the country or the corporation as may be directed from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

• Be a Kenyan citizen;
• Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized University;
• Master’s Degree in a related field from a recognized University will be an added advantage;
• Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
• Must be a member of the Law Society of Kenya
• Have had experience for a period of not less than five (5) years
• Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
