Licensed Practical Nurse at Reeds Africa Consult

Job Summary: 

Contracts independently to render skilled nursing care, usually to one patient, in their home or other delivery sites, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, per the Nurse Practice Act. Administers medications, treatments, dressings, and other nursing services, according to physician’s instructions and condition of patient. Provides service in accordance with the company’s philosophy, standards and polices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains optimum health and well-being of the patient.
• Provides skilled nursing care in the home as ordered on the Medical Plan of Treatment and Nursing Care Plan.
• Assists patient and/or family in keeping home an environment safe.
• Prepares meals for patient appropriately.
• Keeps patients supplied with necessary materials.
• Records information accurately, legible and concisely following Medical Plan of Treatment.
• Keep supervisor and staff advised of changes in patient’s condition.
• Document all changes in patient’s physical or psychosocial condition.
• Attends staff meetings, patient conferences and take active part in planning patient’s care as needed.
• Documents and notifies staff of changes in patient’s medication, treatment, etc.
• Keeps accurate record of time.
• Participates in company’s evaluation programs.
• Promotes philosophy and goals of the company.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
2. Current CPR - Basic life support and first aid training Experience:
3. One-year clinical nursing experience, and at least 6-month pediatric experience within the last three years.
4. One-year of previous adult patient experience.
5. Pre-Employment Criminal Background Check to include finger-printing results, satisfactory results.
6. Communicates well both in spoken and written English.
7. Organizes and utilizes time efficiently.
8. Demonstrates self-directed and responsible behavior in caring for patient.
9. Ability to effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers.
10. Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures.
