    Nursing Services and Quality Improvement Lead

    Location: Nyahururu

    Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

    Pearl Hospital is seeking an experienced and results-oriented nursing professional to strengthen nursing-service delivery and lead hospital-wide quality-improvement initiatives.

    The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Clinical Services and departmental leaders to improve patient safety, clinical standards, staff accountability and readiness for accreditation.

    Key responsibilities

    • Coordinate daily nursing operations across outpatient, inpatient, maternity, theatre and other clinical areas.
    • Strengthen nursing supervision, shift handovers, duty allocation, clinical documentation and continuity of care.
    • Monitor nursing performance, competencies, staffing requirements and adherence to clinical standards.
    • Coordinate clinical audits, patient-safety reviews, incident investigations and corrective actions.
    • Develop and monitor quality indicators covering patient safety, infection prevention, medication practices, documentation, patient experience and service delivery.
    • Lead implementation of the hospital’s quality-improvement plan and preparation for SafeCare assessment and accreditation.
    • Support departments to develop, implement and regularly review policies, SOPs and clinical protocols.
    • Coordinate quality and patient-safety committee activities and follow up agreed actions to closure.
    • Train, mentor and support clinical staff to improve performance, accountability and patient-centred care.
    • Prepare concise monthly reports on nursing performance, quality indicators, incidents, risks and improvement actions.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognised institution.
    • Current Nursing Council of Kenya registration and valid practising licence.
    • At least five years’ nursing experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role such as ward in-charge, nursing supervisor or deputy matron.
    • Demonstrated experience leading a measurable clinical or operational quality-improvement initiative.
    • Practical experience in clinical audits, incident investigation, infection prevention, SOP implementation and staff competency assessment.
    • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and performance-management skills.
    • Ability to use data, Excel and routine reports to identify gaps and monitor improvement.
    • Experience with SafeCare, KQMH, ISO, hospital accreditation or regulatory inspections is an added advantage.
    • Postgraduate training in healthcare management, quality improvement or patient safety is an added advantage.
