Coordinating information between client and the company's clearance department.
Quoting rates to clients. Follow ups on quoted orders.
Sourcing rates from overseas suppliers.
Ensuring timely clearance of cargo, by staying up to date with each stage of the shipment clearance process.
Tracking and updating clients on arrival of cargo.
Keeping and updating the record of ongoing and upcoming shipments.
Following up with the transport department regarding delivery date/time.
Mid-level crisis management e.g. Delays in delivery, Unforeseen charges and penalties incurred due to incomplete/insufficient documentation of shipment, Discrepancies in quoted rates to clients due to weight change / commodity difference / penalties and delays at POL or GRI occurrence at POL.
Mid-level client management e.g. 1-to-1 interactions with applicable clients, Creating and maintaining a healthy working relationship with existing and new clients, Ensuring accountability and credibility with clients.
Reconciling past shipment particulars with reference to the shipment report, at the time of monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliation/fact finding process.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, additional degrees / certificates / diplomas would be a big plus point.
2 years work experience,in the shipping/ Freight industry with a good understanding of customs clearance procedures at JKIA / Mombasa port.
A basic understanding of pricing / quoting and negotiations.
