    Medical Officer

    LOCATION: KAKAMEGA/KISII

    Overall Responsibility

    To provide high-quality, patient-centered medical care through clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients in line with established standards, policies, and ethical guidelines. The Medical Officer will contribute to clinical governance, mentorship, and continuous quality improvement in service delivery.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Conduct thorough patient consultations, examinations, and medical reviews.
    2. Diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medications, and perform minor procedures.
    3. Manage both outpatient and inpatient cases, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
    4. Conduct daily ward rounds and ensure continuity of care across shifts.
    5. Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, protocols, and infection prevention standards.
    6. Participate in morbidity and mortality meetings, CMEs, and clinical audits.
    7. Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with hospital policies.
    8. Support the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and patient safety standards.
    9. Provide clear information to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and care plans.
    10. Collaborate with specialists and allied health professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
    11. Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings and contribute to decision-making.

     Job Qualifications & Skills 

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery.
    2. Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
    3. At least 2 years post-internship experience in a busy healthcare environment.
    4. Current certification in BLS/ACLS/ATLS is an added advantage.
