The Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, is an international non-governmental organization that promotes children's rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries
Multi Country Climate Resilience Advisor
Climate change is expected to worsen in coming decades; and the Eastern and Southern Africa region is among the most affected in the world. Climate assessments for Eastern and Southern Africa conclude that the region is likely to become warmer and drier; and increasingly variable rainfall is anticipated. An increase in both frequency and intensity of extreme events, mainly droughts and floods is also anticipated. Additionally, climate change is widely recognised as threat multiplier that intensifies or alters existing conflicts and leads to further migration and displacement. These changes pose serious hazards to children, particularly those who are most deprived and marginalised. In light of its strong commitment to establish effective humanitarian and development nexus, Save the Children is in a strategic period to ensure that innovative climate approaches and actions are embedded in our programs so that we contribute effectively to survival, development and protection of children with their full participation. We are looking for an experienced climate change professional, with a commitment to children's rights, who is able to think strategically about Save the Children's potential to contribute in a more systematic and significant way to this global crisis in Eastern and Southern Africa.
