Kenya Education Network, (KENET), is the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of Kenya. KENET is licensed by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) as a not-for-profit operator serving the education and research institutions. KENET provides affordable, cost-effective and low-congestion Internet bandwidth services to member institution campuses in Kenya. We have setup a gateway to the advanced e-infrastructures for research that are available exclusively within the Research and Education Community anywhere in the world. We also provide shared services such as; co-location of servers, dedicated Virtual servers for e-learning systems, video and web conferencing, and capacity building for technical staff. KENET is the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) for the academic community.
Main Purpose of the Job
This position reports to the Lead Network Development Engineer and will provide technical support to the network through development, installation and operation of network devices and technologies, maintenance and upgrading, capacity planning and performance testing, resolution of incidents and problems and manages client connectivity projects and requests to completion. Suitable candidates will join a team responsible for network development of the backbone and last mile infrastructure of KENET as well as providing campus network development advisory services.
