    Nuclear Medicine Technologist III - 2 Posts

    Job Purpose

    To perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures by preparing, administering, and imaging radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring patient safety, accurate results, and adherence to quality and regulatory standards.

    Duties and responsibilities

    Reporting to the Head, Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging, the position holder will be responsible for the following:

    • Interpreting PET/CT and SPECT/CT request forms and ensuring proper approval and protocoling by the Nuclear Medicine Physician.
    • Consulting with the Nuclear Medicine Physician on requests and protocols for imaging procedures.
    • Clerking patients for scans and preparing them for nuclear medicine procedures.
    • Explaining procedures to patients clearly and compassionately to ensure understanding and compliance.
    • Reconstituting radiopharmaceuticals accurately and safely in accordance with radiation safety standards.
    • Performing PET, SPECT, and planar imaging examinations while adhering to quality and safety protocols.
    • Ensuring patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection techniques, and compliance with radiation safety regulations.
    • Troubleshooting scanners, couches, and peripheral equipment to maintain operational efficiency.
    •  Maintaining and disseminating acquired scans and ensuring proper documentation of imaging results.
    • Documenting and maintaining departmental records and stock control of consumables.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned.

    Key Qualifications and Experience Requirements

    • Diploma in Nuclear Medicine Technology or equivalent from a recognized institution.i
    • Up-to-date certification with the Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
    • Current practicing license from the Radiation Protection Body.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Compliance with Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
