Part Time Instructor (Lecturer), Bioethics and Jurisprudence -Medical College at Aga Khan University (AKU)

AKU is seeking a Part time Instructor/ Lecturer to facilitate the implementation of the Bioethics and Jurisprudence course among students in the Medical College. The purpose of the course is to enable students to deal with ethical and legal issues in the practice of medicine and research with professionalism and integrity. The course instructor will participate in course development and review activities; and ensure professional and academic productivity among the students and other instructors in the programme through related educational and research endeavours.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to the body of knowledge in Bioethics and Jurisprudence through research and publication
• Critically evaluate policy and legislative changes that enhance health and well being
• Instruct students on a range of modules related to ethical and legal issues in the practice of medicine
• Plan and implement face-to-face or blended teaching/learning sessions
• Participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments
• Participate in faculty and departmental seminars and workshops aimed at building capacity, sharing learning outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the course area
• Contribute to the administration of academic programmes

Requirements

• Should hold at least a Masters Degree in a relevant discipline
• Must be a member of a relevant/ course related professional association
• Should have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in higher education with evidence of practice in the medico-legal and ethics sub-sectors
• Should have good competency in the relevant field
