Kenyatta University Teaching Research and Referral Hospital is seeking to engage Patient Care Assistants to provide personal care to patients and to work collaboratively with the other practitioners mainly in support of the nursing role. The Patient Care Assistant will work under the direction of a registered nurse.

Duties and Responsibilities

The patient care assistants will be required to assist the nurse in;

• Providing patient comfort by utilizing resources and
• Feeding, bathing, and dressing of patients
• Identifying patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport and providing psychological
• Promoting adherence to infection-control policies and protocols and storage
• Assisting maintain a clean and safe clinical
• Documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing patient
• Transporting patients within the facility if
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

• KCSE Certificate with minimum Grade D+
• Certificate in Patient Care Assistant / Nurse aide / Community Health Nursing / Customer care or any other relevant and related field
• 2 years’ relevant experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
• Must have knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic technique
• Must have knowledge of basic infection control practices
• Must be able to recognize emergency situations and bring them to the attention of the nurse for immediate corrective actions
