Key Duties and Responsibilities

Medication Dispensing

• Prepare medications for dispensing as directed by the supervising pharm-tech.
• Ensure all prescriptions are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Refer all clinical queries and medication counseling to the supervising pharm-tech.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Inventory and Stock Management

• Receive, inspect, and inbound all pharmaceutical stock delivered during assigned shifts.
• Verify delivered stock against purchase orders and delivery invoices.
• Ensure proper storage of medicines according to pharmacy standards.
• Conduct daily injection stock counts and report any discrepancies immediately.
• Monitor stock levels and notify the pharm-tech of low-stock, expired, or near-expiry items.
• Assist in maintaining organized shelves and accurate inventory records.

Cashier Support

• Assist the cashier in preparing daily sales reconciliation reports.
• Verify sales records against receipts and cash collections where required.
• Report any discrepancies in daily sales to the pharm-tech or line manager

Customer Service

• Deliver courteous, professional, and timely customer service throughout operating hours.
• Assist customers with general enquiries within the scope of the role.
• Direct patients requiring pharmaceutical advice to the supervising pharm-tech
• Maintain a clean, welcoming, and organized pharmacy environment.
• Provide accurate English/Swahili translation to facilitate communication between customers,healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff.
• Assist customers in understanding pharmacy procedures while ensuring that all medication counseling is provided by the supervising pharm-tech

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: A minimum of a Certificate in Pharmacy or a related healthcare field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a pharmacy, hospital, or healthcare setting will be an added advantage.
• Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, inventory management, numerical and computer and pharmacy management and billing systems is an added advantage. Working knowledge of Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel is required for inventory tracking and reporting. Familiarity with digital health tools is an added advantage.
• Soft Skills:Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili, with the ability to facilitate effective communication between patients and healthcare professionals.
• Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to handle patient inquiries professionally and courteously.
• Integrity and Confidentiality: High levels of honesty, accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and handling company resources responsibly.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with pharmaceutical technologists, cashiers, and other healthcare staff while following instructions and established procedures.
• Professional Conduct: Willingness to work in shifts, adhere to pharmacy policies and  standard operating procedures (SOPs), and perform duties within the scope of the role and under appropriate supervision.
