Job Summary
This position can also be based in either our offices in Nairobi, Kenya, Kampala, Uganda, Accra, Ghana, or Kigali, Rwanda.
As the Postdoctoral Research Scientist, your focus for this position is to use satellite data together with available ground-level air pollution measurements to improve the fundamental science and delivery of air quality forecast products – implementing them operationally, evaluating the system, doing case study analysis, and improving individual components of the system. In this position, you will be expected to support the refinement of an air quality forecasting tool that was co-developed by the World Resource Institute (WRI) and the NASA Global Modelling and Assimilation Office (GMAO). You will be adept at processing emission inventory data and analyzing large atmospheric and air quality datasets. You will also, work with a wide user community involved in city air quality management, nationally and internationally. You will provide an outstanding opportunity to apply a variety of field and analytical skills to perform original and applied research, present the results at scientific meetings and trainings, and publish first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals.
