    Procurement Officer – Construction

    Role Summary

    • Nariana Enterprises Ltd. is seeking an experienced Procurement Officer – Construction to support procurement activities within the Civil Engineering Department.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing construction materials, equipment, tools, spare parts, consumables, and services while ensuring competitive pricing, correct specifications, timely delivery, and proper procurement documentation.
    • The role requires someone with strong supplier sourcing, negotiation, purchasing, cost control, and supplier management skills, together with a practical understanding of construction and project-based procurement.
    • The ideal candidate should be comfortable dealing directly with suppliers, project teams, site personnel, LPOs, quotations, price comparisons, delivery documentation, and project procurement records.

    Key Responsibilities

    Civil Engineering Procurement & Purchasing

    • Receive and process approved purchase requests from construction sites and company departments.
    • Source construction materials, consumables, spare parts, tools, equipment, services, and other project related requirements.
    • Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and prepare quotation analysis and price comparison sheets.
    • Negotiate supplier prices, discounts, credit terms, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
    • Prepare and process Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) and related procurement documentation.
    • Ensure purchases comply with approved specifications, quantities, budgets, and project requirements.
    • Coordinate urgent and emergency site purchases where required.
    • Follow up with suppliers to ensure materials and equipment are delivered within agreed timelines.
    • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Storekeepers, and site teams to confirm material requirements before purchasing.
    • Verify stock availability and existing orders before making purchases to minimize unnecessary or duplicate procurement.
    • Maintain procurement trackers for pending orders, deliveries, supplier commitments, and outstanding documentation.

    Supplier Management & Cost Control

    • Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable and competitive suppliers.
    • Maintain an updated database of approved and potential suppliers.
    • Continuously source alternative suppliers to improve pricing, availability, and supply reliability.
    • Negotiate favourable commercial terms while maintaining required quality and specifications.
    • Monitor supplier performance in relation to pricing, quality, reliability, responsiveness, and delivery.
    • Monitor prevailing market prices for commonly purchased construction materials and equipment.
    • Compare supplier pricing against historical purchases, project budgets, and prevailing market rates.
    • Identify and report significant price increases, unusual purchasing trends, excessive material requirements, or potential cost concerns.
    • Continuously identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising required quality or project specifications.
    • Support management in controlling procurement and material costs across civil engineering projects.

    Procurement Documentation & Controls

    • Check supplier invoices against approved quotations, LPOs, delivery notes, and goods/services received.
    • Ensure all procurement documentation is complete before submission to the Finance Department for payment.
    • Maintain organised records of quotations, comparison sheets, LPOs, delivery notes, invoices, and supplier correspondence.
    • Assist with supplier account reconciliations and outstanding payment queries where required.
    • Ensure all purchases follow company procurement procedures, approval processes, and authorised limits.
    • Maintain proper records of materials purchased and delivered to individual construction projects.
    • Ensure procurement documentation is properly filed, accurate, and easily traceable.
    • Escalate pricing discrepancies, delivery delays, specification issues, documentation gaps, or supplier concerns promptly.

    Coordination & Reporting

    • Work closely with the Procurement Manager, Finance Department, Project Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Storekeepers, site teams, and suppliers.
    • Provide regular updates on pending purchases, outstanding deliveries, supplier issues, and urgent site requirements.
    • Track procurement requirements separately for each construction project.
    • Support project teams in monitoring purchases against approved project budgets and BOQs.
    • Help improve internal procurement systems, supplier tracking, and purchasing controls.
    • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling supplier quotations, pricing information, company records, and project information.

    Qualifications & Experience

    The ideal candidate should have:

    • Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant procurement or purchasing experience.
    • Previous experience working in a construction, contracting, civil engineering, building-materials, or project-based company will be strongly preferred.
    • Practical experience purchasing construction materials, tools, equipment, spare parts, consumables, or project-related services.
    • Good understanding of procurement procedures, supplier sourcing, quotation analysis, and LPO preparation.
    • Strong supplier negotiation and price comparison skills.
    • Ability to understand technical descriptions, specifications, quantities, and construction material requirements.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general procurement systems.
    • Experience working with quotations, LPOs, delivery notes, invoices, supplier statements, and procurement trackers.

    Candidate Profile

    • The successful candidate should be confident dealing directly with suppliers, negotiating prices and commercial terms, comparing quotations, preparing LPOs, and following up deliveries.
    • The right candidate should understand the importance of cost control, competitive sourcing, correct specifications, proper documentation, and timely procurement within a construction environment.
    • Candidates who have previously handled procurement for civil engineering, road works, building works, contracting, construction materials, or other project-based operations will have a strong advantage.
