    Production Manager, Natural History Unit Development

    Role Responsibility

    As Production Manager you will manage the Development team staffing and budget, oversee taster shoots, and write budgets and schedules for all development ideas. The role will work with the full development team to tailor their ideas to fit a tariff and doing revisions of budgets and suggesting changes and innovative ways to hit available funding and delivery deadlines. You’ll work closely with the Unit Manager, Production Executives and the Commercial Team, and contribute to the strategic overview of the Natural History Unit’s development pipeline.  Following successful commissions you will then work closely with Production Managers to ensure smooth transition of projects from development into production. You’ll drive innovation, change and ensure continuous improvements are implemented throughout the production process. You’ll thrive on remaining calm, organised and focused.

    Are you the right candidate?

    • Proven experience of autonomous management of a production budget and be highly competent at forecasting and reforecasting series costs and assessing financial risk.
    • We are looking for someone experienced in budgeting Natural History and Documentary shows.
    • You must have held a JPM role with line management responsibilities (for at least 12months) or have PM credits.
    • Experience and knowledge of BBC systems, policies and processes beneficial.
    • Excellent influencing, persuading and problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrate strong organisational and planning skills and manage conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
    • Strong negotiating skills, able to influence, manage and negotiate deals and contracts in line policies and guidelines.
    • Proven track record of being organised and responsive in fast paced environments.
    • Experience of working for a variety of broadcasters/commissioners advantageous.
