    Programme Data Management Intern

    JOB PURPOSE

    There are several new tools being made available in 2020 that will help the Regional Bureau in Nairobi (RBN) and Country Offices (COs) with monitoring, reconciling and analyzing data. These tools need to be tested in the RBN to ensure validity and usefulness. Once released for use, these tools need to be rolled out to COs which will require the creation/review/updates of training and reference materials as well as establishing an implementation plan in partnership with each CO.

    The intern will support the Programme Data team lead with testing and rolling out new tools in the region as well as support COs within the region with creating/updating their Data Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Currently enrolled in the university and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies; currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master's degree) from a recognized university; or have graduated from a university undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Management or any other related field.
    • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is a must; knowledge of a second UN language, preferably French, would be an asset
    • Full proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint), data visualization tools such as Tableau and Statistical Packages

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    What you will do:

    • Conduct user testing of new WFP data tools and corporate dashboards for the Regional Bureau and Country Offices
    • Create/review/update user manuals, standard operating procedures and training materials on new data tools and dashboards, using data visualization tools where possible
    • Plan and coordinate with each CO the rollout and training of tools
    • Time permitting, conduct training needs assessment with COs and RBN to identify data related training needs and develop a training plan
    • Together with the WFP Headquarters team and the Regional Bureau Data Fellows, support data improvement programmes for the Regional Bureau in Nairobi

    TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP depending on the duty station of assignment (i.e. Nairobi)
    • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs
    • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education
