    Job Description

    Overall Job Summary

    This position is responsible for offering support and assistance in the implementation of educational, training and capacity building programs aimed at creating public awareness and promoting good relations, harmony and peaceful co-existence between persons of different ethnic and racial communities of Kenya

     Duties and Responsibilities

     Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:

    • Implementing policies, guidelines and strategies on public education and engagement;
    • Conducting advocacy campaigns and activities on issues affecting ethnic relations;
    • Collecting and collating information on activities that promote elimination of all forms of discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, race, religious, cultural, linguistic and other forms of diversity in a plural society;
    • Taking part in assessing training needs for specific targeted group on public education and engagement;
    • Taking part in organizing and implementing of training programmes and activities on public awareness, support and advancement of peace and harmonious co-existence among ethnic communities and racial groups;
    • Collecting information and developing iec materials on public awareness, support and advancement of peace and harmonies co-existence among ethnic communities and racial groups;
    • Taking part in championing activities that discourage persons and institutions, from advocating or promoting discrimination or discriminatory practices on the ground of ethnicity or race; and
    • Taking part in sensitizing programmes and activities that promote tolerance, understanding and acceptance of diversity in all aspects of national life and encourage full participation by all ethnic communities in the social, economic, cultural and political life of other communities.

    Job Specification

    Requirements for Appointment

     For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies, Criminology, Sociology, International Relations, Law, Conflict Resolution and Humanitarian Assistance, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
    • Certificate in computer application skills.

    Terms of service

     The above position is permanent and pensionable based on satisfactory completion of the six (6) months’ probation period

    Salary and allowances

                   Salary range               :     Ksh. 56,775 - 80,000

                    House allowance         :     Ksh. 28,000

                    Commuter allowance :      Ksh. 10,000

                    Airtime allowance        :     Ksh.   1,500

      3. Any of the Registered Credit Reference Bureaus
      4. Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
      5. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate).
    5. Submit recommendations from a relevant professional body
