Job Overview
The Project Assistant will support day to day implementation of community and facility based TB interventions in Machakos and Makueni County. The role will assist in coordinating project activities, supporting community health actors, tracking implementation progress, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting in line with approved workplans, targets, and Global Fund requirements.
The position works under the guidance of the Project Coordinator and Program Manager and collaborates closely with M&E, finance, county health teams, and community structures.
Key Responsibilities
Program implementation support
- Support implementation of TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care activities at community and facility levels, in line with approved workplans and targets.
- Assist coordination of community-based TB interventions, including screening, contact tracing, treatment interruption tracing, TB preventive treatment (TPT), and differentiated service delivery models.
- Support implementation of TB/HIV integrated activities, including nutrition support for TB/HIV co-infected clients and linkage to care.
- Support community awareness and demand creation activities, including World TB Day campaigns, school sensitization, mobile population outreach, and community dialogues.
Community systems strengthening
- Support and work closely with Community Health Promoters (CHPs), peer monitors, peer educators and other community actors to ensure effective delivery of TB services.
- Assist in coordination of mentorship visits, review meetings, and supportive supervision activities for community and facility-based implementers.
- Support implementation of Community led monitoring (CLM) activities, including data collection, issue tracking, and participation in advocacy forums.
Monitoring, documentation, and reporting
- Maintain up-to-date activity documentation, beneficiary records, and routine implementation data in collaboration with the M&E team.
- Support collection and submission of monthly and quarterly performance data and activity reports.
- Assist in documentation of best practices, lessons learned, success stories, and human-interest stories in line with project learning objectives.
- Support organization of data review meetings, county review forums, and stakeholder engagements.
Financial and administrative support
- Support implementation of project activities in compliance with CMMB financial policies and Global Fund requirements.
- In collaboration with finance teams, support processing and liquidation of activity related payments, stipends, and reimbursements.
- Contribute to preparation of activity-level budgets and tracking of expenditure against planned activities.
Partnerships and Coordination
- Support coordination with County Health Departments, sub-county teams, health facilities, and community leadership structures.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, technical working groups, and advocacy forums relevant to TB programming at county level.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Health, Public Health, or a related field.
- At least three (3) years’ experience supporting community health programs within a public health–focused NGO.
- Experience working on TB prevention, care, and treatment interventions, including community-based service delivery.
- Strong understanding of Kenya’s Community Health Strategy and experience working with CHPs and community structures.
- Good organizational and coordination skills with ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with ability to prepare basic reports and summaries.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience supporting Global Fund funded TB programs is an added advantage.
