Project Sales Supervisor at Morison Engineering Limited (MEL)

The Company

Morison Engineering Limited has, for more than 40 years, been involved in the supply of fire, engineering and safety solutions to oil companies, hotels, and manufacturing firms in Kenya and the neighbouring countries.  Our range of offerings include firefighting equipment and systems, generators, plumbing, air conditioning and refrigeration.

Most of these products and services are sold and managed by the Project Supervisor of the Company which is headed by a Project Supervisor.  This position is currently vacant and the Company is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy.

The Project Supervisor Position

• The Project Supervisor position reports to the Technical Manager of the Company and is responsible for the following:
• Develop and implement project work plans and review as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
• Identify construction issues to be resolved through site surveys for potential locations.
• Convey and assist in negotiating with public and private providers of power sources.
• Conduct onsite visits and coordinate with construction crew and operations personnel continuously.
• Convey and supervise contractors and subcontractors.
• Develop, maintain and improve any business relationships vital to division success.
• Establish and manage relations with independent contractors, vendors and negotiates best possible rates for their products and services.
• Conduct quality control for work performed by independent contractors.
• Evaluate project and recommend report to identify issues and opportunities to improve performance going forward.
• Interact clearly, constructively and positively with all organizational departments to ensure projects are completed effectively and with minimal disruption to planned events.
• Participate actively as projects team member to improve department efficiency, reduce costs and assist in improvement of product through customer experiences.
• Encourage communication of information between departments.
• Supervise and stimulate procurement activities as required ensuring on time delivery of components and equipment.
• Develop and maintain relations with clients as required establishing correct interfaces and presenting professional image.
• Support cost saving development initiatives and delivery process improvements.

Qualifications and Attributes

Qualified candidates should have the following qualifications and attributes:

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Second Class Honors), Upper Division, from a recognized university.
• Specialization in Sales and Management of Firefighting projects will be an added advantage.
• Registration as an Engineer or proof of eligibility for registration.
• Proof of course attendance in leadership, project management or sales and marketing.
• Ability to lead a team of technical people.
• Integrity, self-drive, team work and communication skills.

Experience

• It is expected that qualified candidates will have experience and skills in the following areas:
• Project design and management in the private sector.
• Several years’ experience in managing technical personnel.
• Project pricing, costing and implementation.
• Computer literacy and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Presentation and networking skills.
