Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a:

• Diploma in any of the following fields; Diagnostic Radiography/Medical ImagingSciences, Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Digital Medical imaging equipment or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) inEnglish/Kiswahili, Biology/ Biological Sciences or Physics/ Physical Sciences andC- (minus) in Mathematics; and

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployedtotakecharge of an X-ray department at County and Sub County Hospital
Specific duties will involve:

• provision of Medical Imaging Services; carryingout medical imaging examinations, processing, verifying and maintaininginformation related to patients, caring for and counselling patient andtheirrelatives before, during and after examinations. 
• In addition, the officer will be ensuring safety and maintenance of medical imaging/therapeutic equipment and their accessories; establishing andmaintaining quality Assurance Programs in the department; requisitionandmaintaining records of Radiographic and other imaging materials; ensuringradiation safety within the health facility and guiding and supervisingstaff. 

Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, anofficer must have: - 

• served in the grade of Radiographer or in a comparable andrelevant position in for at least for three (3) years;
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance andresults.
