Rapid Response Rider at AA Kenya

Duties and responsibilities;

• Battery Jumpstarts & Testing: Diagnosing flat batteries, providing jumpstarts.
• Delivering emergency fuel or essential motoring fluids (coolant, brake fluid) when members run out on the road.
• Tire Replacement & Puncture Repairs: Changing flat tires using member spares or using portable air compressors to inflate under-pressured tires safely.
• Basic on road diagnostics: Using portable OBD-II diagnostic scanners to identify dashboard warning lights, check engine codes, and reset minor electronic faults.
•  Minor Mechanical Quick-Fixes: Resolving basic engine overheating issues, loose belt checks, or minor electrical wiring disconnections to make vehicles drivable.
• Scene Stabilization: Arriving at accident or breakdown scenes to set up safety cones/reflectors, ensuring the member and vehicle are safely off high-risk lanes and give insurance a report on the same.
• Post-Accident & Towing Coordination: Assessing whether a vehicle requires heavy recovery or towing and logging requests through the dispatcher/dispatch app for a flatbed recovery truck.
• Rider Bike & Kit Maintenance: Ensuring assigned response motorbikes are well-serviced, fully fueled, clean, and stocked with emergency tools, diagnostic gear, and safety apparatus.
• Personal & Road Safety Compliance: Operating response motorcycles in full compliance with NTSA traffic guidelines, wearing full defensive riding gear, and upholding AA Kenya road safety standards.

Key Qualifications and Requirements;

• Valid Driving License: Class A endorsement (Motorcycles) & Class B
• Certification in Motor Vehicle Mechanics/Electrical or a Diploma/Certificate in Automotive Engineering from a recognized institution (e.g., NITA, Kenya Polytechnic, or AA Technical Institute)
• At least 2 years of practical hands-on experience in automotive repairs, diagnostic troubleshooting, or garage services.
• Experience as a rescue officer is an added advantage.
• Strong working knowledge of major highways, shortcuts, and bypasses in the targeted operating region (e.g., Nairobi Metropolitan, Skill with GPS apps and dispatch software is essential.
• Customer Care & Etiquette with excellent communication skills
• High level of trustworthiness & integrity, given that riders will handle members' vehicles and personal property.
