    Registered Clinical Officer | - (Orthopaedics) - 2 Posts

    REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

    • Must be a Kenyan citizen;
    • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution;
    • Higher Diploma in Orthopaedics and Trauma Specialization from a recognized institution;
    • Registration certificate from Clinical Officers’ Council;
    • Possess a valid practicing license from Clinical Officers’ Council:
    • Three (3) years relevant work experience;
    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and commitment to values and principles as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution;
    • Ability fo work in a multi-ethnic environment and sensifivity and respect for diversity:
    • Must have good inter-personal and communication skills;
    • Proficiency in computer applications; and
    • Satisfy the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct thorough physical examinations and assessments of patients with musculoskeletal trauma and injuries;
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to evaluate trauma cases;
    • Develop individualized treatment plans for each patient based on their injury and condition; set, immobilize, and monitor fractures and dislocations using splints, casts, or other methods:
    • Provide initial wound care for trauma-related injuries, including cleaning, dressing, and managing infections;
    • Apply traction and other stabilization techniques for musculoskeletal injuries;
    • Assist orthopaedic surgeons during trauma surgeries by preparing patients, providing surgical fools, and suturing wounds;
    • Monitor and support the patient's condition during surgery, providing post-operative care as required;
    • Develop rehabilitation plans for patients recovering from trauma surgeries or non- surgical treatments;
    • Work with physical therapists and other specialists to ensure proper recovery of movement and strength;
    • Monitor long-term progress, adjusting treatment as necessary for chronic or recurring issue:
    • Provide patients and families with detailed instructions on injury prevention, proper care post-treatment, and rehabilitation exercises;
    • Educate communities on orthopaedic trauma prevention, including workplace safety and accident prevention:
    • Refer complex trauma cases to orthopaedic surgeons or tertiary hospitals when advanced or specialized treatment is required;
    • Consult with senior medical officers or orthopaedic surgeons on difficult cases;
    • Respond to trauma emergencies in the hospital or community, providing immediate care and stabilization;
    • Participate in accident and emergency services to manage trauma patients upon arrival:
    • Maintain accurate patient records, including diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures performed, and follow-up notes:
    • Ensure proper reporting of trauma cases to relevant authorities or hospital departments for further analysis;
    • Train and mentor junior clinical officers or healthcare workers on basic orthopaedic trauma care:
    • Participate in outreach programs, offering orthopaedic care and trauma management services in underserved areas and
    • Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
