The holder will report to the Principal.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assessing the health needs of the whole school community,developing a health plan, including Health and Safety Policies
- Administering traineesmedicine where and when necessary
- Referring medical matters to the hospitals.
- Developing procedures and providing emergency nursing management for injuries/illnesses.
- Monitoring health situation of traineesby developing adequate records
- Escorting trainees, as required, to hospitals
- Ensuring that medication, equipment and dressing in medical room and all first aid boxes are in date and restocked
- Providing confidential health advice for individual trainees.
- Supporting, advising, counseling and referring traineesexperiencing mental health problems, such as depression.
- Supporting vulnerabletraineesby working alongside trainersand other professionals
- Providing advice for parents, careers and school staff on trainee’s illnesses and the management and control of infectious diseases.
- Developing and implementing a trainee’shealth plan.
- Interpreting the health status of trainees toparents and school personnel.
- Utilizing existing health resources to provide appropriate care of trainees.
- Maintaining, evaluating and interpreting cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of trainees.
- Providing health education and anticipatory guidance.
- Improvement of health by teaching persons to become more assertive health consumers and to assume greater responsibility for their own health.
- Ensure proper hygiene is fostered around the middle school section especially around the lavatories.
- Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution;
OR
- ADiploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized institution;
- Two(2) years’ experience in relevant field.
- Registration Certificate and valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya (Nurse Applicants) or a Certificate of Registration and valid license from the Clinical Officers’ Council (Clinical Officer applicants).
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

- House Allowance (Kes) -1,747.00
- Commuter Allowance (Kes) -873.504
- Health Allowances (Kes) -13,500.00
