    Regulatory Reporting Analyst

    Job Summary

    To analyse the risks associated with new lending, structuring and derivative proposals with the intention of facilitating new business.

    Job Purpose:

    The Regulatory Reporting Analyst, part of the Credit Risk management complement, will be responsible for overall credit risk reporting to the regulator (locally and at Group level), licensed credit reference bureaus and routine and ADHOC reporting within the bank.

    The role holder will work closely with both external and internal stakeholders in CDO, Credit, Risk and Finance with key deliverables measuring accuracy, timeliness, and automation initiatives.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Act as a regulatory reporting compliance champion and carry out quarterly self-audit on reports submitted to CBK, CRB and Group.
    • Daily and monthly transmission of credit data to the licensed Credit Reference Bureaus (CRBs) ensuring 100% compliance to the Data specifications template and ABSA internal policies and procedures.
    • Centrally maintain records of listed, delisted, and deleted accounts, daily updates sent to CRB, letters and SMS sent to retail customers and correspondences regarding any CRB queries.
    • Prepare monthly returns for ALCO pages and Trigger framework macroeconomic KRIs as per agreed SLA.
    • Prepare and submit statutory reports within stipulated timelines ensuring 100% compliance with the prudential guidelines and regulatory reporting procedures.
    • Performing analysis/review of risk classification of loans advances and computing the required general and specific provisioning of the portfolio in line with CBK Prudential Guidelines.
    • Supporting facilitation of seamless audit processes by coordinating and ensuring all requirements are met within the credit department.
    • Monitoring and reporting loan portfolio performance and trends to provide insight to business teams and management.
    • Supporting Bank projects relating to credit reporting aspects and working with Developers and users to identify areas of improvements on existing credit reports.
    • Managing all data extraction requirements for credit reporting and where applicable facilitate creation of new reports, data sets and update of the data warehouse.
    • Drive automation of Risk Reports on Tableau, Power BI, KNIME and other bank enabled applications.
    • Achieve individual operational performance targets and support the achievement of team targets.
    • Constant liaison with the business network and key stake holders to undertake appropriate measures and improve on the credit regulatory reporting process.
    • Pursue self-development to increase personal effectiveness, acknowledging strengths and areas for development.
    • Maintain Up to date localized Model frameworks, Policies and Standards.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • University degree or equivalent professional qualification (or equivalent on-the-job experience)

    Preferred Experience

    • Technical hands-on experience in data extraction, analysis, and presentation
    • Detailed working knowledge of the bank’s products, operational environment, processes, and procedures
    • Excellent understanding of the prudential guidelines, credit reference bureau requirements and data specification template (DST).

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Expertise in extracting, analysing, and interpreting data.
    • Proven ability to collaborate with other team members across boundaries and contribute productively to the team’s work and output, demonstrating respect for different points of view.
    • Able to use strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to cultivate effective, productive client relationships and partnerships across organizational boundaries.
    • Knowledge of data extraction techniques, report writing and presentation.
    • Credit risk management expertise.
    • Practical knowledge of query languages such as SQL, Hive, and the ability to write simple queries to extract, transform, and load data from relational and non-relational databases.
