    Research Scientists (68 Positions)

    Job Reference Number: KALRO/RES/SCE/II

    Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Collecting and collating research data;
    • Compiling and generating simple field and laboratory reports;
    • Administering research questionnaires;
    • Laying out experimental trials;
    • Administering experimental protocols and schedules;
    • Maintaining laboratory and field notebooks;
    • Participating in outreach activities;
    • Keeping accurate reports of work undertaken;
    • Ensuring the safety of research data;
    • Complying with Standard Operating Procedures.

    Job Requirements 

    • Have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in any of the following disciplines: 
    • Biochemistry; Chemistry; Botany; Zoology; Physics; Agriculture; Environmental 
    • Science; Natural Resource Management; Animal Health and Production; 
    • Agriculture Education and Extension; Crop Improvement and Protection; 
    • Molecular and Cellular Biology; Applied Biology; Agribusiness Management; 
    • Agricultural Economics; Agricultural Engineering; Animal Science; Dairy 
    • Technology and Management; Horticulture; Food Science and Technology; Land 
    • Resource Planning and Management; Soil, Water and Environmental 
    • Engineering; Range Management; Agroecosystems and Environment; Veterinary 
    • Medicine; Agrometeorology; Microbiology; Biotechnology; Biometrics; 
    • Statistics, Applied Statistics; Crop Protection; Sociology; Anthropology; Gender; 
    • Nutrition and Dietetics; Agriculture Modelling; Informatics or equivalent 
    • qualification from a recognized institution.
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya; 
    • Have a certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; 
    • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Have good analytical skills; and Be a Team player
