Security Supervisor at Surge Energy

Duties and Responsibilities:

Security Policy Implementation & Operations:

• Supervising and coordinating the activities of the security team to ensure effective coverage and security of the facility.
• Developing, implementing, and enforcing security policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Conducting regular security patrols and inspections to identify and address potential security risks.
• Recommend improvements to strengthen security systems and procedures

Incident response, reporting and documentation:

• Responding promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
• Investigating security breaches, incidents, and suspicious activities, and prepare detailed reports for management.
• Coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
• Maintain accurate daily occurrence books (OB), incident reports, and shift handovers

Team Supervision and Training:

• Training and mentoring security staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to perform their duties.
• Conducting regular briefings and training sessions on security protocols and emergency response procedures.
• Monitoring performance and providing feedback to security personnel.

Access Control:

• Overseeing the management of access control systems, ensuring only authorized personnel have access to restricted areas.
• Ensure proper frisking, search, and vehicle checks are conducted
• Issuing and managing security badges, keys, and access cards.

Surveillance Management:

• Monitoring and managing surveillance systems, ensuring all areas of the facility are adequately covered.
• Reviewing and analyzing surveillance footage to identify and investigate security incidents.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintaining accurate records of security activities, incidents, and inspections.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Preparing and submitting regular security reports to management.

Health and Safety Support:

• Collaborating with the Health & Safety team to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assisting in conducting safety drills and emergency response training.

Continuous Improvement:

• Staying updated on the latest security technologies, trends, and best practices.
• Recommending and implementing improvements to enhance the security posture of the facility.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. A diploma or degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in security operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Certifications: Valid security officer license or certification (as required by local regulations). Additional certifications such as First Aid, CPR, or advanced security training are a plus.

Skills: 

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency in using security systems, including CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
• Knowledge of local laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to security.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct patrols, stand for extended periods, and respond physically to emergencies if needed.

Working Conditions

• Work Environment: The role involves working indoors and outdoors, potentially in varying weather conditions. The Security Supervisor may be exposed to high-risk situations during incidents or emergencies.
• Work Schedule: The position may require working in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 security coverage.
• Physical Demands: The role may involve walking, standing, and occasional lifting or restraining during security interventions.
