Senior Data Scientist at I&M Bank

Purpose:

The senior data scientist will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our products, as well as mentoring junior and intermediate level data scientists.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Select features, build, and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques.
• Conduct data mining using state-of-the-art methods.
• Extend company’s data with third party sources of information when needed.
• Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
• Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
• Create automated anomaly detection systems and track its performance.
• Develop robust analytical models to address complex business problems and driving innovation.
• Validate models built by junior and intermediate level data scientists.
• Collaborate with Machine Learning engineers for model deployment.
• Coach, mentor, and supervise junior and intermediate level data scientists.

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, math, software engineering, statistics, data science or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years relevant experience.
• Data science certificate from a known institution.
• Proof of global participation in data science competitions (e.g., Zindi, Kaggle etc.)
• Knowledge of programming languages like SQL and Python
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
• Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
• Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
