    Senior Education & Examination Officer

    Summary

    The Nursing Council  of Kenya wishes to recruit highly competent, passionate, dedicated and self-driven individuals to fill the following vacant position(s): Senior Education & Examination Officer

    Terms and Remuneration

    • Terms of Service – Permanent and Pensionable
    • Salary: from KES. 137,607 – 162,609 per month

    Job specifications

    Officer at this level may be deployed in either Education and Examination Division.

    Education

    Duties and responsibilities entail:

    • Implementing the nursing education, examination & registration policy and guidelines;
    • Implementing the developed and/or reviewed nursing/midwifery training materials;
    • Facilitating study/review processes for education materials/documents;
    • Preparing and submitting reports;
    • Conducting compliance audit regarding curriculum implementation in training institutions;
    • Facilitating training needs assessment and advising regarding emerging programs;
    • Monitoring compliance to indexing requirements, indexing period, preparing and submitting reports;
    • Supporting indexing administrators in nurse training institutions through conducting training and consultations;
    • Verifying credentials for nurses trained outside Kenya (TOK), identifying suitable criteria and program, preparing and submitting reports on the same;
    • Coordinating and undertaking indexing of students trained either in Kenya or out of Kenya;
    • Executing the monitoring and evaluation system;
    • Undertaking and reviewing risk mitigation measures and reporting status quarterly;
    • Implementing and reviewing the performance targets of the section and reporting milestones;
    • Executing and reviewing the section work plan; and Implementing quality standards procedures in the section.

    Examination

    Duties and responsibilities entail:

    • Implementing the nursing education, examination & registration policy and guidelines;
    • Monitoring of the examination registration processes and preparation of a list of candidates;
    • Administering and invigilating examinations;
    • Conducting assessment of examination centers, preparing and submitting reports;
    • Preparing list of proposed examination setters, moderators, and invigilators;
    • Reviewing the list of required examination materials/accessories;
    • Preparing and submitting reports including invigilation reports for purposes of payment;
    • Verifying eligibility of candidates to undertake the examination;
    • Reviewing and submitting reports on examination performance for nurses Trained Outside Kenya (TOK);
    • Maintaining research resources and data mining to support policy;
    • Undertaking relevant research to enhance nursing and midwifery practice;
    • Identifying areas of focus in research and developing preliminary research grant proposals for funding;
    • Generating and submitting preliminary research reports;
    • policy briefs, position papers;
    • Disseminating research findings;
    • Maintaining research data base;
    • Reporting on risk status and proposed corrective measures;
    • executing performance targets of the section;
    • Undertaking the section work plan; and
    • Implementing quality standards procedures.

    Person specifications

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

    • At least of four (4) years relevant experience in a comparable and relevant position in public or private institution;
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution;
    • Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
    • Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya;
    • Membership to a professional body in good standing;
    • Curriculum Development Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
    • Proficiency in Computer application skills; and
    • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Method of Application

    • Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI);
    • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Clearance/Compliance Certificate;
    • A Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
    • Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) i.e. Completed First Schedule (s.13) and a self-declaration form; and
    • A Clearance Certificate from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) in Kenya.
