    Senior Journalist - AfricaTV Health

    We are looking for a Senior Journalist to lead in editorial out put and programme making for our Flagship Health Programme ‘Life Clinic’. This is a continuing contract

    Role Responsibility

    As part of the senior editorial team, your role will be to provide leadership support for the Africa Health Editor and lead production output of the Africa TV Health programmes, digital content and Health News coverage.

    You will need to have excellent knowledge of Health systems in Africa, global health trends, research and knowledge development in Health and Wellbeing. You will also need a deep understanding of what audiences are looking for in TV, digital and social media Health and wellness coverage as well as a nose for original, creative journalism.

    In this role, the Senior Journalist will plan, coordinate and oversee editorial production processes for ‘Life Clinic’, Digital Health content and News coverage. Working closely with the editor, they will allocate work to the team and ensure the professional contribution of staff and the quality of output.

    The Ideal Candidate

    The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a senior journalistic capacity, with fluent Swahili and English language skills.  You will have extensive editorial experience of TV,  online and digital, with the ability to develop and implement new approaches to programme structure and content. 

    Demonstrable experience of commissioning and  delivering to broadcast compelling multi-platform stories related to Health in Africa and African news and current affairs is essential.

    To succeed in this role you will need to be an experienced journalist, able to lead a collaborative and supportive team to deliver creative, high-quality journalism that meets the editorial standards of the BBC and the specific requirements of our audiences.
