Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:
- Conducting periodic patrols in the University to ensure all centers are manned at all times and a tight perimeter maintained.
- Carrying out spot checks at the students’ hostels to ensure unauthorized is monitored for accountability of the hostels occupants.
- Issuing gate passes to students and staff members to ensure only authorized access to the University.
- Issuing University visitor badges at the main gate for clear and easy identification.
- Arresting both staff and students who may be causing violence in the institution in line with the University rules and regulations.
- Reporting any theft or loss of University property for investigations and further actions taken.
- Ensuring welfare of security staff is addressed such as security uniforms and tools of work are made available for efficient operations while performing their duties.
- Supervising Security guards.
- Maintaining Occurrence Book.
Person specification
For appointment to this post, a candidate must:
- Diploma in in criminology or social order or its equivalent or any other relevant field from a recognized institution
- At least four (4) years working experience in the University or appropriately trained in security work in the Kenya Police Service and Kenya Defense Forces either in the rank of a sergeant.
- Be at least 30 years of age.
- Be a person of high integrity.
- Be physically and medically fit.
- Be computer proficient and conversant with ERP system.
- Have a certificate of good conduct from DCI.
