Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to lead end-to-end architecture across a national portfolio of digital health platforms. The Platforms in this scope will be as below:

• Facility HMIS for Level 5 & 6 hospitals
• Comprehensive SHA eClaims platform
• AI-driven fraud detection engine
• Electronic Quality Management System (EQMS)
• Drug Utilization Review (DUR)
• Unified National Logistics Management Information System (NLMIS)
• National Health Data Lake & Advanced Analytics platform
• Integration with National HIE, SHA ERP, DHA analytics, and national registries

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture aligned to the Kenya Health Enterprise Architecture (KHEA) and DHA standards.
• Lead solution design across clinical, financing, supply chain, AI, and analytics systems.
• Architect interoperable systems using HL7 FHIR and OpenHIE principles.
• Design and oversee implementation of a national health data lake integrating clinical, claims, logistics, fraud, and quality data.
• Establish scalable analytics frameworks for dashboards, AI/ML deployment, predictive fraud detection, and utilization analysis.
• Ensure secure, sovereign, and compliant cloud deployment aligned to Kenya Data Protection requirements.
• Provide technical leadership to MoH, DHA, SHA, and consortium partners.
• Chair architecture reviews and enforce governance standards.

Educational Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (required).
• Professional certifications (TOGAF, Cloud Architecture, Health Informatics) are an added advantage.

Experience & Expertise

• 10+ years in enterprise systems and software engineering.
• 5+ years in Solution or Enterprise Architecture roles.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale digital health or government platforms.
• Strong expertise in:
• HL7 FHIR, OpenHIE, API architecture
• Microservices and distributed systems
• Data lake architecture & analytics platforms
• AI/ML integration and deployment
• Cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure
• Security, identity, and data governance
• Experience with HMIS/KenyaEMR/OpenMRS, DHIS2, SHA eClaims, ERP integrations, or NLMIS is highly desirable.
