Sustainability Consultant – GRI & IFRS S2 at Sheer Logic

About the Role

• Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking to recruit a Sustainability Consultant to support the Bank’s sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures and implementation of international sustainability reporting standards.
• The successful candidate will provide technical support in the application of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures, helping the Bank strengthen its sustainability reporting framework, climate-related disclosures, data processes and reporting controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the implementation of GRI Standards across the Bank’s sustainability reporting activities.
• Support the Bank in preparing sustainability disclosures aligned with applicable GRI Standards.
• Support the implementation and ongoing alignment of the Bank’s climate-related disclosures with IFRS S2.
• Conduct gap assessments against GRI and IFRS S2 requirements and develop practical implementation plans.
• Identify and assess material sustainability topics relevant to the Bank and its stakeholders.
• Support the development and documentation of the Bank’s materiality assessment and sustainability reporting approach.
• Support the identification, assessment and disclosure of material climate-related risks and opportunities in line with IFRS S2.
• Assist in assessing the Bank’s exposure to physical and transition climate risks.
• Support the development of climate-related metrics, targets and performance indicators.
• Coordinate the collection, validation and consolidation of ESG and sustainability data from different business units.
• Establish and strengthen controls around sustainability and ESG data to enhance accuracy, completeness, consistency and auditability.
• Develop data collection templates, reporting methodologies and documentation for sustainability disclosures.
• Work with Finance, Risk, Operations, HR, Credit, Strategy and other relevant functions to obtain and validate sustainability information.
• Support the preparation of the Bank’s annual sustainability/ESG report and related disclosures.
• Ensure appropriate linkages between sustainability disclosures and the Bank’s financial and risk reporting processes.
• Monitor changes to GRI Standards, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards and other relevant reporting requirements and advise management on their implications.
• Support internal and external assurance processes relating to sustainability and ESG disclosures.
• Prepare technical reports, management presentations and recommendations on sustainability reporting.
• Build internal capacity by developing guidance, training materials and awareness sessions on GRI and IFRS S2 requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Professional qualification or postgraduate training in Sustainability, ESG, Climate Change, Sustainable Finance or related discipline is an added advantage.
• 4–7 years’ relevant experience in sustainability reporting, ESG, climate reporting, sustainability consulting or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience supporting or preparing sustainability reports using the GRI Standards.
• Practical experience with IFRS S2 or implementation/readiness assessments for IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
• Experience within banking, financial services, professional services or consulting will be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of ESG data management, reporting controls and disclosure processes.
• Experience conducting materiality assessments and ESG reporting gap assessments.
• Good understanding of climate-related risks, opportunities, metrics and targets.
• Experience working with multiple internal stakeholders to collect and validate non-financial data.
