    Team Leader Outpatient & Emergency Department

    Job Purpose:

     To provide leadership and management services in clinical and awards ensuring the hospital’s vision and mission is achieved. Responsible for evaluating, diagnostics, treating, providing consultation, and admitting all patients at the outpatient and emergency department.

    Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Strategy, policy and processes implementation -Oversee the department by providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective A&E /outpatient strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies and ensure sustainable growth of the department.
    • Quality Assurance- Provide guidance and facilitate the development and implementation of quality assessment plans by monitoring the overall quality of the total testing process and ensuring continuous improvement of the A&E’s/outpatient performance and services. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintained.
    • Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilization and other specialized procedures in order to provide curative services in line with established protocols and promote patient centricity including providing clinical support during emergencies including resuscitation, admission, discharge or referral to the appropriate consultants and units.
    • Policy and processes implementation -Oversee the department by providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective A&E /outpatient strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies and ensure sustainable growth of the department.
    • Quality Assurance- Provide guidance and facilitate the development and implementation of quality assessment plans by monitoring the overall quality of the total testing process and ensuring continuous improvement of the A&E’s /outpatient performance and services. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintain.
    • Cover for annual and study leave, and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance
    • Administrative and Management Responsibilities- As the Head of Department, provide effective and efficient management and administration services including budget planning and control, manpower and resource planning to ensure smooth running of the department programs that are at the forefront of science in patient care.
    • Facilitate the provision of safety conditions by monitoring physical and environmental conditions in the hospital to ensure safety from physical, chemical and biological hazards.
    • Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilization and other specialized procedures in order to provide curative services in line with established protocols and promote patient centricity including providing clinical support during emergencies including resuscitation, admission, discharge or referral to the appropriate consultants and units.
    • Work with the established consultants/specialist to ensure equitable provision of A&E /outpatient services across the whole of the hospital. This will include collaborative working, mutual.
    • Learning and Development – Support learning and development initiatives by identity skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for the A&E/outpatient   Plan and direct learning and development appropriate to the department.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
    • Emergency Medicine training or Family Medicine Training is an added advantage.
    • Master’s in healthcare administration or business administration is an added advantage
    • Valid certification in BLS and ACLS.
    • Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification an added advantage.
    • European Paediatric Advance Life Support (EPALS) certification an added advantage

    Professional Qualification

    Job Experience

    • Four-years post-internship experience
    • 1year experience as an emergency medicine doctor or in healthcare administration
    • Private practice experiences an added advantage

    Membership

    • Valid registration and annual practice license
    • Registered with Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentist Board.
