Minimum Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Holder of a BSc in Computer Science from accredited and recognized institution;
- Certification in A+, N+, Cisco, Oracle, Sun-microsystems etc shall be an added advantage;
- Proven experience of at least two years as a Computer Laboratory Technologist or a similar role;
- Be a registered member of the professional body (where applicable);
- Should have a practicing certificate (where applicable);
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities at this level entails:
- Sets-up and demonstrate laboratory experiments and activities in the areas of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, computer networks, database systems, Websystems and Software development;
- Guide and supervise students laboratory experiments and activities;
- Install, evaluate, maintain and configure operating systems and application software in the laboratory environment for experiments and laboratory activities;
- Assists faculty, staff and students with the general and specific uses of a variety of personal computers; demonstrates personal computer procedures;
- Demonstrates and provides instruction to students in proper use of computer equipment; tutors students in order to assist them in their understanding and use of multiple software programs;
- Assist students in debugging and troubleshooting programming, networking, database and web related challenges in the laboratory exercises;
- Maintain an inventory for computing laboratory resources;
- Works with faculty to ensure a positive learning environment in the lab;
- Maintain expenditure records and provide data for budget estimates;
- Communicates and enforces computer laboratory policies to all laboratory users; and
- Create and maintain the computer laboratory usage schedule.
- Requisition of teaching lab materials as needed for smooth departmental operations; and
- Provide technical specifications, reports, and cost analyses in the lab to aid management decisions.

- Registered Credit Reference Bureau
