A Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a closely related field from a recognized university. A Higher National Diploma in Biochemistry/Biotechnology with additional relevant certifications may be considered for entry-level roles.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in biochemical analysis techniques
Ability to prepare reagents, calibrate equipment, manage inventory, enforce laboratory safety protocols, and support research and student practicals
Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and laboratory data management systems. Familiarity with software for molecular and bioinformatics analysis is an added advantage.
Understanding of biosafety, biosecurity, and relevant national and international laboratory quality standards, such as ISO 17025 or GLP guidelines
At least two (2) years of relevant practical experience in a biochemistry, molecular biology, or biotechnology laboratory setting in academia, research, or industry
Registration with a recognized professional body such as the Kenya National Biosafety Authority (NBA).
