    Theatre Nurse

    What You Will Do

    • Prepare operating theatres, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
    • Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and other theatre personnel before, during, and after surgical operations.
    • Maintain aseptic technique and ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
    • Assess patients pre-operatively and verify patient identity, procedure details, and consent documentation.
    • Monitor patient safety and wellbeing throughout the perioperative period.
    • Manage surgical instruments, swab counts, needle counts, and equipment checks according to established protocols.
    • Prepare, label, and handle surgical specimens appropriately for laboratory analysis.
    • Respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies and support emergency surgical interventions.
    • Document patient care, surgical procedures, and theatre activities clearly and accurately.
    • Collaborate with Medical Officers, Surgeons, Anesthetists, and other healthcare personnel to ensure seamless surgical care.
    • Participate in continuous learning, training, and mentoring of junior staff and trainees.

    Qualifications

    • Higher Diploma in Perioperative/Theatre Nursing or equivalent.
    • Valid Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) registration and current practicing license.
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in a busy operating theatre environment.
    • Strong clinical skills with solid knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and theatre protocols.
    • Excellent communication, patient advocacy, and teamwork skills.
    • High level of accuracy, compassion, ethical standards, and professionalism.
    • Willingness to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, public holidays, and emergency call schedules.
