Trainer, Clinical Medicine And Surgery (Kitale Centre) at Mount Kenya University

Must have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
• A valid practicing licence from the Clinical Officers Council.
• A minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical and teaching experience at a recognized university, TVET institution, or other tertiary training institution.

Duties and responsibilities

• Participating in the development, instruction, and delivery of the Clinical Medicine and Surgery curriculum.
• Delivering lectures, tutorials, demonstrations, and practical training sessions in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
• Providing hands-on training in clinical skills, including patient examination, diagnostic procedures, clinical decision-making, and relevant surgical techniques.
• Supervising and guiding students during practical and clinical training to ensure they acquire essential skills safely and effectively.
• Organizing and overseeing clinical rotations in hospitals, health centres, and other approved clinical training facilities.
• Coordinating with healthcare facilities to facilitate and monitor student clinical placements.
• Preparing and administering examinations, assignments, practical assessments, and other forms of student evaluation.
• Evaluating students’ academic and clinical progress and providing appropriate feedback.
• Mentoring students and providing academic, professional, and career guidance.
• Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, performance, assessments, and clinical competencies.
• Ensuring that teaching, assessment, and clinical training activities comply with applicable regulatory and professional standards.
• Participating in research and scholarly activities that contribute to the advancement of medical education and clinical practice.
• Participating actively in departmental meetings, academic activities, and initiatives aimed at strengthening the department.
• Supporting continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices within the department.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
