Treasury Dealer- Faulu MFB at Old Mutual Kenya

Job Description

To serve in the Treasury and Finance Unit in implementing good treasury, Planning and Preparation of reports to external and internal parties as directed by the Treasury Manager and senior Dealer.

Key measurable goals

• Enhancement of Money market placements to maximize yield
• Generating interest income through trading activities.
• Optimizing income by effectively engaging in bond trading.
• Actively cross selling all other Bank’s products.
• Improving client satisfaction ratings based on surveys and feedback.

Key responsibilities
Dealing Activities:

• Inventory Management: Managing the dealer's inventory of money market securities to maintain liquidity and profitability.
• Market Analysis: Monitoring market trends and analyzing economic indicators to identify potential trading opportunities.
• Risk Management: Mitigating risks associated with trading activities, including interest rate risk, currency risk, and credit risk.
• Pricing: Assisting in determining the fair value of financial instruments.

Operational Tasks:

• Trade confirmation: Ensuring that trade confirmations are accurate and timely.
• Reconciliation: Reconciling accounts and ensuring that transactions are properly recorded.
• Reporting: Preparing reports on trading activities and performance.
• Compliance: Adhering to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Customer Service:

• Client interaction: Providing support to clients, including answering inquiries and assisting with transactions.
• Relationship building: Developing and maintaining relationships with clients to foster loyalty and business growth.

Learning and Development:

• Continuous learning: Staying up to date on market developments, financial instruments, and risk management techniques.
• Professional development: Seeking opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the treasury department.

NATURE OR PURPOSE

• Market intelligence. To keep up with any developments in the Banking industry.
• Provision and service of the tools of our trade.
• The Financial Markets Association of Kenya.

Education

• A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field
• ACI certified

Knowledge and Skills

• Has strong technical understanding of accounting principles and demonstrated competence in their application.
• Good understanding of micro and macroeconomics to interpret likely currency and interest rate trends both locally and on the international markets.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills twinned with an active and avid interest in finance & trading.
• Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills as well as be an excellent communicator with the ability to set and meet stretched targets and deadlines.
• Good understanding of the CBK and Banking prudential guidelines and their implications on the organization.

Experience

• At least 2 years' experience in a busy commercial, Financial Treasury, Cash management, Financial Analysis or related management.
• Financial Accounting Experience
