Well Baby/TB Nurse at Premier Hospital

JOB PURPOSE

The Well Baby Nurse's job will be to support maternal health and wellbeing, identify health and development concerns early, provide intervention and referral when necessary and deliver health promotion and education programs. The Well Baby/ TB Nurse will also maintain records and monthly TB reports of vaccines as well as issuing TB drugs and screening of patients.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Vaccination using the KEPI and baby friendly schedule.
• Monitoring growth and development of babies.
• Carrying out routine screening of vision and hearing.
• Coordinate follow-up medical care.
• Maintaining records and monthly reports of vaccines.
• Perform screening to determine if a patient has TB.
• Issuing TB drugs to TB patients.
• Provide case management of TB cases.
• Provide directly observed therapy (DOT) and directly observed preventive therapy (DOPT) to cases, suspects, and TBI cases.
• Help ensure timely contact tracing for each TB case.
• Adhere to the hospital health and safety policies, guidelines/ protocols (e.g the use of personal protective clothing/ equipment, fire safety).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree/Diploma in nursing from a reputable institution.
• At least 2 years’ experience in Comprehensive Care Clinic/ Maternal and Child Health.
• Knowledge on KEPI Schedule.
