WiFi FTTH Technician at Lightspeed

Job Purpose

• We are looking for a hands-on field technician to install, restore and maintain fibre and network services at our sites. This is a practical upcountry role for someone who can trace a fault and fix it without waiting to be told what to do.

Key Responsibilities

• Pull, terminate and fusion splice fibre on campus routes and along KPLC poles
• Install, provision and troubleshoot ONTs and EPON or GPON OLTs
• Configure MikroTik RouterOS including bridges, VLANs, DHCP, hotspot, simple queues and basic routing
• Deploy and align wireless access points and routers for hostel and campus coverage
• Diagnose link faults using an optical power meter and OTDR, and restore service
• Maintain accurate records of deployed and reclaimed equipment, including serial and MAC addresses
• Report site status, traffic and user growth to the supervisor
• Observe safety standards at all times, including the use of reflectors and safety gear
• Travel and relocate to one of our sites as assigned, including Nakuru, Eldoret, Kericho, Kisii and Bungoma

Minimum Qualifications

• Diploma of at least two years in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or ICT from a reputable technical college
• Demonstrated field experience in fibre installation, splicing and ISP network support
• Working knowledge of MikroTik RouterOS, with certification an added advantage
• Ability to work independently at a site with minimal supervision
• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
