    Consultancy on the Results Based Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Training for AU-IBAR

    Purpose and Scope

    The main objective of this training is to enhance the staff capacity in the area of Results-Based Management targeting the areas of planning, monitoring and evaluation of project results. The consultant is expected to design this training process and to assign time frames to it. To ensure sustainability and retention of knowledge, the training design should include extensive use of practical exercises, quizzes, and group-work

    Specifically, the training should include the following:

    1. The culture for obtaining results
      • Theory of Change concept
      • Results-based Management (RBM) concept
      • Emerging concepts
    2. Planning for results
      • Theory of change approach:
        • Understanding the Problem Analysis,
        • Objective tree, and
        • Results framework
      • • The Logical Framework approach:
        • The results chain and formulation of the results framework;
        • Identification and definition of indicators along the results chain, and determining of baselines and targets
    3. Monitoring for results
      • Key elements to consider when monitoring of results including the use of results framework
      • Using results frameworks for results-oriented reporting
    4. Using Results Based Management
      • Applying knowledge, skills and learning to apply and modify programme / project results chain as necessary

    Qualifications And Experience

    Lead consultant

    1. The lead consultant should have Advanced degree/ Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Planning/ Monitoring and Evaluation or any other relevant with experience in results-based management training
    2. At least Eight (8) years proven experience of facilitating training sessions in Results Based Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation for medium and large-scale organizations.

    Awareness Workshop on Knowledge Management Concepts and Practices for AU-IBAR

    Purpose & Scope

    The awareness aims to strengthen staff understanding of existing concepts and practices on knowledge management for supporting AU-IBAR’s competitive advantage/ strategic niche. The objectives of the awareness workshop include the following:

    • Provide an understanding of Knowledge Management theories, concepts, professional standards, and practices.
    • Introduce basic concepts that anchor knowledge management successfully in organisations.
    • Provide awareness on the role of different technologies to boost and scale knowledge management, digital transformation and create work efficiency processes;
    • Promote staff understanding towards a common framework of knowledge management in AU-IBAR.

    The awareness workshop will provide a general awareness of knowledge management theory and practice by introducing key concepts and aspects of Knowledge Management. This awareness will also introduce participants to the role of the Knowledge Organisation and its importance in decision-making and stakeholder engagement processes. At the end of the workshop, staff will be expected to come up with a roadmap on their involvement as knowledge workers by providing different actual samples of Knowledge Management suited for use within the context of AU-IBAR that cuts across the domain of managing people, processes and technology.

    The awareness workshop is expected to cover the following topics in Three (3) days.

    1. Introduction to history, common concepts/ models for practice of Knowledge management.
    2. Introduction to essential concepts, methods and tools to anchor knowledge management successfully in organizations (such as a KM policy and strategy, leadership to establish the right knowledge culture, establishing communities of practice successfully, defining and optimizing key knowledge processes, using modern IT-tools and measuring the success of knowledge management. The implementation of knowledge management, including awareness campaigns.
    3. Introduction to existing technologies to boost and scale knowledge management, digital transformation and creating work efficiency processes; highlighting relevant technologies that shape the knowledge economy. Understand the difference in tools such as office 365; content management systems; repositories; databases for digitalization of knowledge processes, collaboration tools and communication.
    4. Guide and facilitate discussions on promoting staff understanding towards a common definition of knowledge management in AU-IBAR.
    5. Provide practical and contextualized exercises to understand the concepts and practices within the context of AU-IBAR.

    Deliverables

    1. A detailed agreed syllabus and methodology prior to the training;
    2. Notes and guides to support learning on each of the identified topics above
    3. Report at the end of assignment highlighting lessons and recommendations arising from the workshop.

    Requirements for Applicants

    The successful firm should have qualifications and experience in knowledge management, change management and organization learning and development.

    Qualifications

    Lead Trainer should have a minimum of post graduate qualification (Co-trainer a Degree) in one or more of the following areas: Information/knowledge management; business administration, organisation development/ management; information systems, library, and information science, information and media, computer science, and public policy.

    General Experience

    1. Work familiarization of at least 10 years in either knowledge management, change management or organization development;
    2. Familiarization with regional and continental processes in sustainable development in Africa;
    3. Evidence of knowledge and familiarization of key knowledge management theories, processes and history, including its evolution in practice and recent trends;
    4. Familiar with various IT systems, and their role in organisation processes, digitalisation and collaboration.

    Specific Experience

    1. At least 5 years working experience as a trainer in knowledge management or organisation development;
    2. Demonstrated evidence of capacity building or training in knowledge management/ organisation development;
    3. Evidence of familiarization and knowledge on existence of decision-making processes and procedures of regional, continental and global fora on agriculture or animal resources development; and
    4. Evidence of formulating or designing mechanisms, guidelines, policies or strategies associated with knowledge management or organisation development.

    Consultancy on Ethics, Integrity and Good Governance Training for AU-IBAR

    Training Objectives

    • To examine some of the common ethical, integrity and governance issues that may arise in the workplace
    • To explore the stages of moral development that influence behaviour change toward ethically accepted standards;
    • Developing administrative practices and processes which promote ethical values, integrity and good governance
    • Anticipating specific threats to ethics standards and integrity in an organization
    • To examine the concept of moral cognitive development in ethical decision making;
    • To examine the behaviors and value systems required for promoting accountability and an ethical culture.
    • To explore emotional control and awareness, Trust amongst employees
    • To examine common harassment virtues
    • Right Of Protected Disclosure Of Official Wrongdoing (‘Whistleblower’ Protection)

    Expected Outcomes

    At the end of the training sessions, participants will be able to:

    • Define key terms associated with business ethics, code of conduct and good governance;
    • Identify typical areas of ethical dilemma, code of conduct, governance that maybe encountered in the workplace;
    • Use the prescribed guidelines in determining ethical behaviour and professional conduct in the workplace; and
    • Design an action plan to promote ethical behavior, conduct and good governance in their respective workplaces.
    • Examine ethics audits to identify risks to the integrity of the most important processes

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

    2. Eight (8) years proven experience of facilitating training sessions in Ethics, Integrity and Good Governance for medium and large-scale organizations
    3. The co – trainer to have an advanced degree preferably in Diplomacy/ Governance/ International Relations
    4. Proven experience of Ethics, Integrity and Good Governance training.
    5. Demonstrated knowledge and advanced skills and at least 8 years of previous experience in the facilitation of Ethics, Integrity and Good Governance training for medium and large-scale organizations
    6. Excellent facilitation and communication skills in English (oral and written)
    7. Excellent rapporteur and analytical skills necessary for capturing the reviews and suggestions that will emerge from the interactive sessions during the exercise
    8. Flexible nature and ability to adapt to changing directions/thinking that may occur during the Retreat
    9. Excellent interpersonal skills
    10. The support consultants to have a combination of an advanced degree in Diplomacy/ Governance/ International Relations and at least 5 years’ experience in Diplomacy and Governance/International Relations as well as the elements captured in 4 to 7.
