    Legal Assistant (Re-Advertisement)

    No of Positions: 6

    Job Ref: HR: KP1/5B.2/1/3/1085

    Reporting to the Legal Officer, in Legal, Regulatory Affairs & Company Secretary Division, the Legal Assistant, will be responsible for handling court process and records management on legal matters concerning the Company.

    The key tasks & duties for the position are;

    • Receiving and undertaking service of court process.
    • Opening court files, maintaining records, printing, photocopying and scanning documents, closing files recommended for closure.
    • Filing Company pleadings at the respective court registries.
    • Fixing court dates and updating the court and bring-up diaries.
    • Undertaking safe custody and retrieval of court files.
    • Handling correspondence, acknowledgement of receipt of service of the court process on behalf of the Company.
    • Conducting official searches at the lands registry, Companies registry, motor vehicles registry and government printers and attending court registries to peruse court files.
    • Registering and collecting legal documents at the relevant registries.
    • Preparing and dispatching notices, hearings, mentions and drafting decrees and orders for filing and service.
    • Updating legal statutes as required.
    • Establish and maintain the company’s filing system to support the company’s record keeping needs and keep the filing system up to date at all times.
    • Undertaking research when called upon. 

    Appointment Specification

    • Diploma in Law from a recognized Institution
    • Possess a current Court Process Server Certificate
    • Three (3) years’ work experience in a busy and reputable law firm
    • Degree or Diploma in Information Technology or Records Management will be an added advantage
    • Fluency in English and good writing skills
    • Proficiency in computer applications
    • Strong communication, reporting and negotiation Skills
    • Attention to detail
    • High levels of Integrity and Ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality

    Legal Officer

    No of Positions: 10

    Job Ref: HR: KP1/5B.2/1/3/1084 

    Reporting to the Senior Legal Officer, in Legal, Regulatory Affairs & Company Secretary Division, the Legal Officer, will be responsible for handling litigation and disputes involving the Company and supporting the management on all related legal matters concerning the Company.

    The key tasks & duties for the position include;

    • Preparing and filing legal documents at court registries, such as plaints, statements of defenses, response to claims, appeals, list of documents and witnesses, witness statements, bundle of documents, applications, etc in order to protect the company’s interests.
    • Attending to all legal matters of the Company including advising, vetting and drafting of legal agreements and contracts.
    • Representing the Company in courts (Superior and Subordinate Courts), tribunals, and before government agencies.
    • Conducting pre-trial briefings and site visits in order to be fully apprised of the matter and prepare the litigation strategy.
    • Conducting research and analysis of legal matters and Interpreting laws, rulings and proffer legal opinions so as to guide the Company allocated to them.
    • Communicating with colleagues, judicial officers, investigative agencies, licensing authorities and others in matters allocated to them.
    • Preparing letters and general correspondences as regards matters they are handling.
    • Engaging in amicable settlement of disputes and complaints and following up on their resolutions.
    • Overseeing the work of support staff, such as legal assistants, legal clerks and Legal Secretaries to enable efficient delivery of services.
    • Providing guidance, advice, legal awareness and/or training and educational programs, to improve business understanding of related laws and regulatory requirements and contractual matters as may be required.
    • Preparing reports and maintaining the records of the Company with respect to the department to enable monitoring and reporting to the management.
    • Liaising with external lawyers on court cases and monitoring compliance with court procedures and requirements to enhance timely, efficient and effective conclusion of disputes, prosecutions and disputes. 

    Appointment Specification

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized Institution
    • Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
    • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate
    • Member of the Law Society of Kenya
    • Three (3) years post admission experience in a busy law firm and must have been in active litigation and dispute resolution position
    • Certified Public Secretary (K) in good standing will be an added advantage
    • Master’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
    • Fluency in English and good writing skills
    • Proficiency in computer applications
    • Strong communication, reporting and negotiation Skills

    Manager-Project Management

    Reporting to the General Manager, Business Strategy the newly established Project Management Office (PMO) will define, maintain and ensure standards for Project Management and will be responsible for the centralized coordination and management of all projects across the Company. The Manager, Project Management will be responsible for providing relevant business specific consultancy and advise to challenge the various business functions during the implementation of projects and will undertake the following duties and responsibilities;

    • Advising on the alignment of the capital projects to the strategic business goals of the Company.
    • Measuring the performance of the key projects through the selected KPI’s.
    • Centralize coordination and management of all projects to ensure the Company delivers value to its shareholders.
    • Ensuring projects are implemented effectively and efficiently within set timelines, budget and available resources.
    • Monitoring progress of all key projects in coordination with the Project Managers and initiative owners.
    • Maintaining database and information of all CAPEX projects under implementation.
    • Identifying issues and risks within projects and explore potential solutions and appropriate implementation of solutions in coordination with the Project Managers.
    • Disseminating common project culture and mindset by informing, communicating and training on different techniques, methodologies and best practices.
    • Developing common project language by defining milestones, metrics and KPI’s for harmonized and efficient projects management.
    • Creating and maintaining project monitoring and management templates, tools and software for consistent, reliable data, enabling early visibility into projects performance for better decision making.
    • Developing knowledge management system and data repository for completed projects for future referencing.
    • Consolidating and standardizing best practice and process in project management across all Departments by providing consistent project management guidelines, methods, systems, tools and metrics for consistent project outcomes in the Company.
    • Responsible for managing risk and implementation of mitigation strategies.
    • Ensuring compliance of the Company policies, regulations, standards and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

    Appointment Specification

    • Ten (10) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at Supervisory level.
