    Transaction Services Manager (Specialist in Financial Due Diligence, Business Valuation and M&A)

    Deal Advisory is a fast paced area of our advisory business. Continually enhancing value for our clients across the deal and economic cycle, our specialists guide them through the entire process – from the initial concept of buying a business, to turning their business around in times of difficulty through selling, restructuring or partnering.     In Deal Advisory, we apply deep technical knowledge and industry experience to a broad mix of complex and challenging transaction and business issues. We work with a range of clients including private companies, the public sector, private equity houses, leading financial institutions and individuals and enhance value in six broad ways: 

    1. Buy: We support clients across the critical stages of an acquisition, from Deal strategy through to value realization.
    2. Sell: We help clients maximize shareholder value through active portfolio management and successful divestments of non-core activities or of entire businesses or shareholding in businesses.
    3. Partner: We advise clients in creating and setting up successful new joint ventures or alliances and support clients as a true partner through the life cycle of a joint venture or alliance, giving them confidence from creation to exit.
    4. Fix: We enable turnaround by helping clients identify strategic, operational and financial opportunities to stabilize under-performance and position for sustainable stakeholder value. Deal Advisory assists with Financial Restructuring by focusing on successfully addressing the intense challenges of financial restructuring and debt refinancing to support improvement in company performance and sustainable growth.
    5. Fund: We take a strategic approach to capital structuring transactions, backed by effective communications with shareholders, lenders and other relevant parties and designed to enhance value.
    6. Grow: Growth is a key pillar for every organisation’s strategy. We assist our clients on every aspect of their growth agenda- market growth to operational improvements.

    Responsibilities

    1. Manage Deal Advisory projects including supporting clients to design, develop and deliver innovative and pragmatic solutions to address business challenges and foster growth.
    2. Support and guide the planning, budgeting, quality management and resource management of consulting (client) and internal (within KPMG)projects.
    3. Stay abreast of current business and economic developments relevant to the clients business; and use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided.
    4. Continuously review project’s performance against pre-set objectives and milestones to ensure quality control throughout its life cycle whileidentifying and addressing key challenges/lessons learnt.
    5. Ensure effective operation of projects by managing and facilitating flow of essential information and feedback among project stakeholders; regularly and effectively communicate project expectations and updates.
    6. Provide technical guidance on client assignments including preparation of reports and ensure projects are delivered according to client specification and within set timelines.
    7. Demonstrate teamwork and responsibility with the engagement team members.
    8. Facilitate project contracting with associates and coordinate tasks undertaken by sub-consultants. 
    9. Ensure quality and internal risk management guidelines are observed during set up, execution and close out of projects. 
    10. Work with colleagues in East Africa on client work and internal initiatives as well as with international teams where appropriate.

    Desired Competencies

    1. Demonstrate project management, business and commercial acumen, drive for execution, people management and development skills.
    2. Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to prioritise workload whilst being resilient, able to cope well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
    3. Demonstrated track record in undertaking buy side and vendor due diligence, business valuation and M&A projects.
    4. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), particularly abilityto articulate concepts and recommendations in written form - reports, analytical analysis etc.
    5. The ability and willingness to travel within the East Africa as projects require.
    6. Demonstrated record of accomplishment in relationship management and business development.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree from any reputable University and preferably in abusiness related field.
    2. CPA, ACCA or CFA or any other relevant professional qualification.
    3. At least 7 years work experience within a busy environment in areputable consulting firm.
    4. Demonstrated experience in provision of financial due diligence, valuation, M&A services as a consultant.

    Associate Information Technology /Systems Auditor

    Key roles and responsibilities

    • Ensure good relationship with clients is maintained in the process of performing client work.
    • Build an understanding of client business. Know and share valuable client info like: Change of key personnel e.g. new C-level joined; Events at client e.g. new product launch, closure of office, etc.while striving to achieve positive feedback from each client through formal and informal mechanisms.
    • Business development through Identifying & escalating opportunities for further work while on an engagement while participating in research and in writing proposals.
    • Work collaboratively, internally and externally
    • Share knowledge and work across boundaries
    • Ensure demonstration of cultural awareness and sensitivity.
    • Ensure risk management through completion of risk management documents and ensure they are signed off and a task code obtained before starting any engagement.

    Academic, professional qualifications and Experience

    • 2 + years IT/Systems Audit Experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business/Economics field with IT qualifications or an IT related degree course
    • Holds a professional certification such as CIA, CISA, ACCA, CPA etc.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication
    • Team management skills
    • Flexible in style and quite willing to learn new ways, methods and approaches

    Senior - Information Technology /Systems Auditor 

    Key roles and responsibilities 

    • Develop, lead and manage client engagement plans, deliverables and expectations as well as review the quality of the fieldwork and deliverables prepared by junior team members 
    • Assist in preparation of technical and commercial value propositions.
    • Build an understanding of client business and markets to assist in the development of client relationships and developing a commercial mindset on how work performed impacts profitability at the engagement and practice levels. 
    • Know and share valuable client info like: Change of key personnel e.g. new C-level joined; Events at client e.g. new product launch, closure of office, etc. while striving to achieve positive feedback from each client through formal and informal mechanisms.
    • Supervise staff level engagement teams. Direct and review the work product of associates and provides direction and training as necessary.
    • Business development through Identifying & escalating opportunities for further work while on an engagement. 

    Academic, professional qualifications and Experience

    • 5 + years IT /Systems Audit experience.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business/Economics field with IT qualifications or an IT related degree course
    • Holds a professional certification such as CIA, CISA, ACCA, CPA etc.
    • Team management skills
    • Proven ability to identify and grow business opportunities
    • Experience in effectively leading a team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication

    IT/ Systems Audit Manager

    Roles and Responsibilites

    The overall responsibility for this role is to drive IT/Systems audit in Consulting within the Assurance solution. Create visibility within Advisory division and the firm. Drive / lead business development efforts within the market, leveraging on deep multi-sector technical knowledge and experience. Be responsible for the IT internal audit team and all related engagements.

    The IT audit engagements include end-to-end support for co-sourced or outsourced IT audits, assurance and attestation engagements, post implementation reviews and IT governance audits. 

    Professional qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related degree from a recognized University.
    • 6 plus years in IT and business experience
    • Various IT Certifications (ISO 27001 LA, NIST, CISA, CISM, CRISC etc.) preferred
    • Additional certification in project management, governance and business certifications are an advantage (CPA, CIA, Agile, etc) preferred
    • Team/ engagement management skills
    • Strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills
    • Strong understanding of corporate governance and the regulatory environment. 
    • Demonstrated track record of quality work, project management and productive team interactions.
    • Willingness to travel moderately
