Objective

Support the development, deployment, and operation of our software in AWS (Amazon Web Services) and help our developers to deliver excellent software by providing the tools they need.

Responsibilities

• Automate and run the build, test, and deployment of our software in AWS 
• Build and maintain tools, solutions and microservices associated with deployment of our platform. 
• Manage code deployments, fixes, updates, and related processes. 
• Enable continuous development and integration (CI/CD) and support developers to use the CI/CD pipeline. 
• Implement monitoring tools to detect issues, measure performance and provide telemetry for developers.  
• Develop operational dashboards and alarms. 
• Monitor performance and capacity and introduce solutions to maintain service levels.  
• Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and catch and solve issues before release 
• Ensure security good practice is followed in deployment and operations.  
• Assist in establishing DevOps practices 

Skills

• Experience with AWS particularly EC2, VPC, Cloud Formation, CloudTrail and CloudWatch. 
• Excellent network design and troubleshooting skills.  
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python  
• Experience in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and automated test tools such as Selenium would be an advantage.  
• Some experience in one or more database systems including Amazon Aurora, Dynamo DB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL 
• Good understanding of Information Security in web applications.  
• Enthusiasm to continually improve skills and learn new technologies  
• At least two years relevant experience. 
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili

Develop and maintain the databases and data processing technologies that support Circle Gas operations so that we deliver a fast, reliable, and secure customer experience.  

Responsibilities

• Establish configure and maintain database instances within our AWS (Amazon Web Services) infrastructure 
• Create database structures (views, tables, indexes etc) required to support business systems 
• Write and optimize database queries  
• Establish and operate scripts to change database structure to meet evolving requirements and manage release through the development, test and production environments.   
• Maintain database performance and security by setting and enforcing standards and controls. 
• Prepare for database expansion by studying plans and requirements; advising senior technical management; coordinating design and delivery. 
• Manage data migration into new databases and archiving of historical data stores.  
• Maintain database performance by troubleshooting problems. 
• Deliver platform upgrades and improvements  
• Secure database by developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls, and investigating security incidents

Skills

• 5 years of practical experience in: database management and design,
• Ability to present technical information to technical and non-technical audiences  
• Working knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services) 
• Verified knowledge of query design and optimization  
• Verified knowledge and experience in one or more database systems including Amazon Aurora, Mongo DB, Amazon Dynamo DB, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL 
• Basic understanding of Information Security 
• Enthusiasm to continually improve skills and learn new technologies  
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili

Develop a mobile apps to help M-Gas to deliver a reliable, cost effective service to our customers

Responsibilities

• Work with colleagues to understand the needs of our field staff and design user friendly, reliable mobile apps to improve the business operations.  
• Build, own, and maintain android applications 
• Develop unit-testing code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability   
• Review design documents, perform code reviews, and contribute to implementation decisions.  
• Support and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Operations and Services) to ship excellent mobile apps.    
• Continually improve our codebase with clean and efficient code as well as solving problems using the most appropriate technology.  
• Enhance development processes and tool chain to move towards CI/CD (continuous integration and delivery)   

Skills

• 5+ years of mobile application experience and have published at least two original Android apps  
• Experience with Android Kotlin and Java  
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON  
• Expert proficiency in Agile development process  
• Ability to meet deadlines   
• Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle  
• Ability to work in a distributed team  
• Experience deploying solutions with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Firebase 
• Basic understanding of Information Security 
• Enthusiasm to continually improve skills and learn new technologies  
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili
